You probably know that I am often lucky photographing cats on the street. So here is another cat shot from my recent trip to Sicily.
Originally I waited for a person to look down from one of upper balconies, but no one showed up. However, I was lucky to capture a sea gull mid flight and got both, the cat and the bird in one photo.

Hallo Freunde,

es ist mir eine riesige Freude, euch zu einer Einzelausstellung meiner Street- und Fine Art - Arbeiten einzuladen. Diesmal habe ich den Platz, um viel mehr Bilder zu zeigen und ich werde diesen auch nutzen, das verspreche ich euch!

Neben meinen Fotos seht ihr auch alle Filme, die mein Freund und Videograf @timmefi_visuals bei unseren gemeinsamen Fine Art - Shootings gedreht hat.

Ich würde mich also sehr freuen, wenn ihr am 4.5. vorbei kämt, um spannende Bilder und Filme zu sehen und mit Tim und mir über Foto- und Videografie zu sprechen.

Many people have congratulated me on the great gol

Many people have congratulated me on the great golden light in my latest shoot and the good luck we had with the sun. It is a huge compliment that the light looks natural, but it is not.

For such an enormous project involving so many people (and a horse) you cannot rely on good luck and a sunny day. As a photographer you need to control the light no matter the weather. So how did we create this beautiful sunlight?

1. We blocked all the natural sunlight creating and even lighting situation in the room.
2. We positioned powerful flashlights outside the windows and shot into the room emulating sunlight.
3. We put orange gels in front of the flashlights to make the light warmer and emulate the setting sun.

The first photo shows the final photo, the second on what the light looked like without flashes and modifications.

Of course, there is more to consider and it was not as easy as it sounds, but in a nutshell this is how we created this beautiful golden sunlight of a setting sun in the middle of the day.

"Cinderella Snubs the Prince" - (GER: "Aschenputte

"Cinderella Snubs the Prince" - (GER: "Aschenputtel lässt den Prinzen stehen).

I am working on a series featuring fairy tales and in this take on Cinderella the Prince is the third wheel. Sorry, Mr. Charming, but the Ladies are not interested.

This was a challenging shot because working with animals is always tricky and you never know what to expect. The beautiful white stallion was a little bit afraid für to the new and unusual environment, but thanks to our Prince's charm and horsehandling - skills we got the photo.

Once again a big thank you to all the people involved in the shot, from the people in front of the camera to my friends behind it, who helped me build the set. Such a complex photo cannot be done by one person alone.

I am looking forward to showing this one as a huge print. Instagram is not the right place to fully appreciate this photo.

Die Contemporary Art Ruhr ist meine absolute Lieblingskunstmesse.
Nicht nur, weil sie mir vor einigen Jahren, als mein Name in der Kunstszene noch gänzlich unbekannt war, die Chance gab, meine Arbeiten einem breiten Publikum zu zeigen, sondern weil es kaum einen schöneren Ausstellungsort gibt, als die Zeche Zollverein.
Ich danke für die vielen spannenden Gespräche und freue mich riesig über die mediale Anerkennung seitens der Ruhrnachrichten und der WAZ für mein "Schneewittchen und die 7 Todsünden".

Die nächste Ausstellung findet übrigens schon am kommenden Wochenende statt. Infos folgen :)

Kirche und Kunst? - Ja, das passt!

Wenn ich an die bekanntesten Arbeiten der bildenden Kunst denke, fallen mir da Vincis "Das letzte Abendmahl" , Michelangelos "Die Erschaffung des Adam" oder Raffaels "Sixtinische Madonna" ein. Jeder von uns hat diese Werke schon einmal irgendwo gesehen, sie sind fundamentaler Bestandteil unserer Kunst- und Kulturgeschichte.

Was haben sie alle gemeinsam? - Es sind christliche Werke, die zeigen, wie eng Kunst und Kirche zusammenhängen. Ich konnte ich mir also keinen besseren Ausstellungsort für meine Trilogie "Faith Forgotten" vorstellen, als eine Kirche und ich bin sehr glücklich und dankbar, sie in der St. Meinolf - Gemeinde so vielen Menschen gezeigt zu haben.

Vielen Dank an das Team der Pfarrgemeinde für die tolle Organisation, danke an alle, die mit mir an diesen Arbeiten mitgewirkt haben, danke an alle, die zur Ausstellung gekommen sind und natürlich vielen lieben Dank an the one and only @andy_lien_ dafür, dass er das Event auf Video festgehalten hat.

I was quite busy lately and could not shoot street

I was quite busy lately and could not shoot street as I wanted to, but always carrying a camera will provide pictures in the busiest of times, as long as I keep my eyes open. This is a photo of a diner I have walked by hundreds of times but on this particular day light and color were a perfect match.

It is a rather abstract street photograph, featuring only color and shape. Thus, it reminds me a of constructivist painting.

Ich möchte vom ganzen Herzen all den Menschen dan

Ich möchte vom ganzen Herzen all den Menschen danken, die sich die Zeit nahmen, um mit mir an einem frühlingshaften Freitagabend über Kunst und Kirche zu sprechen. Die St. Meinolf Gemeinde hat wirklich tolle Arbeit geleistet, um diese Kunstausstellung und die anschließenden Gespräche zu ermöglichen und auch dafür bin ich sehr dankbar.

Die Bilder sind bis zum 24.3. in der St. Marienkirche in Hagen ausgestellt und werden anschließend auf der @revierkunst gezeigt. Ich freue mich schon auf weitere interessante Gespräche.

Great news! I am very honored to have received an

Great news! I am very honored to have received an honorable mention in the Tokyo Foto Awards for "The Resurrection", the third and final part of my series "Faith Forgotten".

After a 1st place last year, this honorable mention means a lot to me since it is proof of consistancy. Many can create one great piece of art, but it is much harder to make a second and third one. I believe that being consistent and creating quality work over a longer period of time is one of the greatest challenges as an artist.

As always I want to thank all the people in front and behind the camera who helped me make this piece of art happen. Such a huge project cannot be done by one person and I am very lucky in having so many great friends who are always there for me.

The photos of the trilogy are intended to be seen as huge fine art prints, not on small phone displays. If you are interested in seeing the trilogy as intended and would like to hear my ideas behind it, you can do so on Friday in the St. Meinolf - Church in Hagen. I would be very happy if you dropped by.

One of my most memorable experiences ever was the

One of my most memorable experiences ever was the hike up the holy Maasai mountain Oldonyo Lengai (2856m).

Considered the hardest one day climb in Africa, we started round about midnight for an incredibly steep climb of 2000m. Unexpectedly, we climbed too fast and needed to sleep in a small cave near the summit waiting for sunrise.

Once on top, I heard what sounded like an incredibly loud waterfall, but was acually a pool full of lava. Imagine my feeling sitting there under a sky full of stars at the ridge of the crater where the God of the Maasai is supposed to live and seeing the lava exploding and splashing below. I think this is what painters of the Romantic period called the sublime.

P.S. The little dot the 5th picture is me, just to give you an impression of how huge the crater is. The 6th photo shows the shadow the volcanoe is throwing after sunrise.

P.P.S. I would have loved to take some amazing drone photos, but my drone was confiscated at the airport. What a shame, the images would have been incredible :(
