The second part of our trilogy with the plot picking up pace.

As I said earlier, Instagram is not the perfect place to present the series since all the little details that are important for the plot are hard to get on a small mobile phone display, but hopefully I will get a chance to show big prints of this work soon.

This is the first part of a trilogy we shot a few weeks ago. Unfortunately Instagram is not the perfect place to present the series since all the little details that are important for the plot are hard to get on a small mobile phone display, but hopefully I will get a chance to show big prints of this work soon.

Christmas is still a few days away but today I've

Christmas is still a few days away but today I've already received my photography-related Christmas present. A first place in the Amateur Category of the @chromaticawards in the street genre for my "Sunset Flight".

After so many top 3 places or honourable mentions for this photo I am incredibly happy that it finally got a first prize.

I wish you all a great Christmas. Stay safe and look around while roaming the streets. You never know what you might capture when you pay attention.

"Childish Games" - Hippos are the most dangerous m

"Childish Games" - Hippos are the most dangerous mammals worldwide and kill about 500 people per year. These kids, however, seem not to care and provoke a hippo submerged in water with a stick. I came upon this scene somewhere on the road in Uganda while waiting for a mechanic to fix our once again broken down car.
Luckily the hippo remained calm and nothing happened even though the kids also threw rocks at it.

Some more wildlife portraits from this summer's self drive adventure through East Africa. These photos may make it look like we had magnificent wildlife sightings, but this was not the case.
Most of the time it was driving around for hours without seeing anything interesting. My main focus were the big cats but throughout the whole trip we did not see any cheetahs at all and only one single leopard or rather the leopard's back disappearing in the high grass.
Nevertheless, it was a great adventure and just being toe to toe with the gorillas was more than worth it.

I went to Tanzania to see the migration of the wil

I went to Tanzania to see the migration of the wilderbeest but ended up seeing one more migration, the migration of hundreds of 4x4 jeeps (last photo).

After driving through almost the whole Serengeti for 2 days I hoped to witness and document one of the greatest wonders of the natural world - the great wilderbeest migration. Unfortunately the only bridge across the Mara river within a day's drive had been broken down for months which meant that we and hundreds of other cars could not cross, were stuck and had to take a look from a very unfortunate position, photographywise. With so many cars in one place the experience was not bad but also not as great as it could have been.

I could tell you a lot about all the problems and challenges all these cars created but would rather focus on a little known fact about the migration itself. In photo no. 7 you will see that a zebra is leading a big wilderbeest group. Apparently this is a common thing. Zebras are very clever and remember where to cross the river so the wilderbeest follow a zebra but right before the crossing the zebra would fall behind, let the wilderbeest enter first and be eaten by the crocodiles lurking in the water. Only after that the zebra would cross safely.

After learning this, one might think how stupid the wilderbeest are, but maybe we are even more stupid since we are the ones spending thousands of dollars flying into the Serengeti and days and hours waiting for the wilderbeest to cross.

I have finally managed to select and edit most of

I have finally managed to select and edit most of the photos from this summer's epic trip through East Africa. Visiting Uganda, Tanzania and the Seychelles in one big journey was an incredible adventure even though I am not hundred percent happy with the photos I could take. Rarely did I have so much bad luck in a single trip, but this is another story.

I will post many more photos from Africa in the fillowing weeks. Stay tuned.
